I don't know why but buttons always make me smile! So you can imagine how happy I was to be able to participate in this fun CHA Designer Craft Connection blog hop challenge sponsored by Buttons Galore. Each participating designer was given an assortment of buttons and asked to create something featuring a wedding or spring theme. I decided to make these little favor boxes each topped with die cut cardboard shapes and fun buttons. It's a super easy project. You'll see that the colored buttons really pop when set against the neutral colors of the various pieces of cardboard. You can't help but smile!

Here's how:

Button-Topped Wedding Favor Boxes

Materials:

- Cardboard (try different colors and thicknesses for extra interest)

- Buttons Galore buttons (Here Comes The Bride Wedding pack, Big Ol Buttons, Assorted)

- Kraft paper jewelry boxes (I used 3"x3"x2" and 2"x2"x2") Available here

- Ribbon

Tools:

- Die cutter & dies (I used Accucut (Flower #5, #27, Circle Small) and Sizzix (Circles #2) )

- Embossing folders 

- KoolTak Foam Clear Adhesive Foam Pads (1/4" x 1/4" x 1/32") Available here

- Making Memories Instant Setter with punching tips

- Side cutter pliers

- Scissors

Instructions:

1. Put a large punching tip on the Making Memories Instant Setter and use the tool to punch two holes on the bottom of the box. Thread a ribbon through the holes. (For a 3" x 3" x 2" box you need about 2 1/2 feet of ribbon.) (Extra hint - place a cutting board under the box when you use the punch tool.)

 2. Die cut a large circle, large flower, medium circle and small circle. Then texture the large circle and flower by running them through the die cut machine again this time using the embossing folders. Build a little stack of shapes from large to small and put a few KoolTak adhesive foam tabs in between the layers to stick everything together. Use a couple more adhesive foam tabs to attach two green buttons and a "Forever" button (from the "Here Comes The Bride Wedding" pack) to the top.

  3. Put a line of adhesive foam tabs on the ribbon as it runs across the lid and attach the assembled cardboard flower stack onto it. Press firmly.

 4. Here's a yellow variation using the same technique.

  5. For the blue lovebirds box, snip the button shank off the back of two of the bird buttons from the "Here Comes The Bride Wedding" pack. Attach to a large button with adhesive foam tabs.

 6. Here's a variation using a smaller gift box.

Easy, huh?! As you can see, these favor boxes are easily customizable to match any wedding color scheme. You can change the ribbon and button colors as well as use different papers instead of cardboard. Then you can fill the boxes with goodies like Jordan almonds, wedding cookies or chocolate kisses so that your guests will remember your special day.
